Dear CG: Bring KOTOR2 to SWGOH

Starkiller was a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. While originally indifferent, after some serious thought I believe he was the greatest addition Capital Games made in 2021. Despite the fact that it was an end-of-quarter cash grab, it opened up a whole new avenue for SWGOH players to hope for.

Officially, the bulk of content created under the Star Wars umbrella was deemed non-canon by The Mouse© upon its acquisition of Lucasfilm. This was a devastating blow to many long-time readers, gamers and collectors-and by some opinions, was doubled down with the new trilogy. For some of these players, having Rey and Supreme Leader Kylo Ren be the first of a new generation of power in the game, was an additional insult. “It was as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.” (Space Hobo)

By all means, SWGOH players began to expect the game to only include Mouse-approved canon characters. However, a ray of hope still shone brightly-the content from the Knights of the Old Republic. The original XBOX games, now both old enough to go to war (and available to download on your phone?!?) are classics, and KOTOR2 is without a doubt my favorite console game of all time.

However, KOTOR2 was not actually focused on the Sith Lords (despite the title), but The Exile, the intentionally nameless character who later became Meetra Surik. I believe that, based on how Starkiller was brought into the game, we could also receive similar content from my favorite console game. While Mara Jade, Dash, Darth Talon and Kyle Katarn had no known connection with SK, Meetra’s would most certainly be characters from the game-and all whom you could turn to Force Users. Let’s go over potential requirements, kit theories, and more!

Meetra Surik: Light Side, Old Republic, Support, Jedi, Lost Jedi

Meetra would be on the same power level as Starkiller right off the bat. She would absolutely be loaded with Omicrons for grand arena and territory wars, turning her squad into a force just below-if not on par with-Galactic Legends. Her true power would lie in her Force Bond unique, granting all allies that are Lost Jedi and Old Republic percentages of multiple stats based on relic levels that began stacking as the battle goes on, in the form of a unique buff that can’t be copied. Once that new buff reaches a max stack, then all allies with the OR and Lost Jedi tags are granted a new ability to reflect their ascension to force-wielding characters. As for the rest of her kit, Meetra will have some heavy support built in, with some ability to heal on her basic and grant protection up to all allies, as well as a Battle Meditation technique to grant offensive buffs for several turns. Another one of her unique abilities would also reduce the damage she received, instead dishing it out to her LJ/OR allies.

Atton Rand: Light Side, Scoundrel, Old Republic, Attacker, Lost Jedi

Atton was part of the Lost Jedi-whom Traya said were meant to become the next new wave of the Jedi Order. He didn’t know that he had the potential to become a Jedi(or Sith, if you went down the path of the dark side), but was revealed to him and unlocked by Meetra Surik (otherwise known as the Jedi Exile). His pivotal moment occurred on Nar Shaddaa, where he told the then-Exile of how he used to hunt Jedi, and how he finally gave it up after a pure moment of selflessness from a Jedi he killed.

Atton’s basic would likely deal an additional percentage to Jedi due to his history as a Jedi hunter. He would likely have a special that grants him stealth for a few turns similar to Princess Leia, and two unique abilities-one that grants a small chance to assist if the leader, and another that revives him if the leader defeats an enemy on their turn. He would hold the Lost Jedi tag, as all of Meetra’s other requirements would, due to the latent nature of their characters.

Bao-Dur: Light Side, Old Republic, Support, Lost Jedi

Bao-Dur would be an amazing addition to SWGOH. His remote would be present in the same way Iden Versio’s ID-10 is, granting assists with small amounts of damage, and a self-destruct that deals damage equal to a percentage of Bao-Dur’s health. Bao-Dur would also have a Shield Disruption special, a unique that would have a small chance to assist the leader if they are OR, extra damage to dark side, scoundrels, and Sith on another, a second special that regains protection for him and a random ally under 100%, and a small percentage of protection recovery/max protection increase on his basic. All this would reflect his journey after the events of Malachor V, his ability to understand shielding better than anyone in the game, his awakening on Dantooine, and the importance of his remote to the end of the story.

Mira: Light Side, Scoundrel, Bounty Hunter, Attacker, OId Republic, Lost Jedi

Mira would be another unique addition to the game. While technically she would be granted the BH tag, being realistic, she would almost never get her contract, as it would mean removing her from the Meetra lineup. It would still be fleshed out, however-likely around damaging an enemy without defeating them. The “useful” aspects of her kit would likely include a heavy amount of stealth, working with thermal detonators, stuns and other debuffs to slow down opponents. Mira’s transformation, which also occurs on Nar Shaddaa, would tune her into the abundance of life on the planet, which with Meetra’s help she learned to control rather than be overwhelmed by it. This would likely be shown by an unnaturally high evasion and tenacity in her kit.

Brianna, The Last Handmaiden: Light Side, Tank, Old Republic, Lost Jedi

The Handmaiden would help round out the squad in the form of an extremely durable tank. Her hand-to-hand Echani combat training, stacked with a naturally high constitution in the game, made her extremely reliable in combat. Her kit would have high defense, counter chance, tenacity and health steal built in to reflect this. Her basic would also have a stacking damage to opponents she had already damaged as time went on, similar to Finn’s. Of the aforementioned characters above, hers would be the most streamlined and simplistic, without even the need for a zeta-but would be most effective in the Lost Jedi squad.

Overall, these characters would be useful, but only reach their ultimate potential under a Meetra lead. Some could be slotted into other OR leads, Scoundrel leads, and/or BH leads, however limiting them to be successful under the Lost Jedi tag would be essential, similar to how Bad Batch could be used under Clone leads, but are best sticking to their faction.

The story is there. The kits are almost perfect for the game as it exists. So, the real question is-when should we expect this? Considering how valuable, powerful and useful Starkiller is, we may see this happen within the next year-and if they keep to pattern, at the very end of the year. The bonus is that other characters could easily be brought in, both main and side: G0-T0, the dark side robot, Mandalore (who is really Canderous), the Jedi masters you try to gather, and so many more. KOTOR 2 would bring a new life to the game, making the Old Republic tag both more popular and relevant-and one can only hope Capital Games is gearing up for a massive swing towards this as future content.

And there we have it! Over 100 games were made for the Star Wars universe, and this is but one of many that could be brought into the game for the enjoyment of fans of all ages. Until next time, holotable heroes, and remember-relic your Mace!

GL Lord Vader: Requirements, Kit and More!

Dear Capital Games,

If for some reason I accidentally am accurate on your ideas for this character…Oops.

With Lord Vader all but confirmed, SWGOH players are given yet another reason to rejoice. The time for further speculation has come again! Here we will ponder all the great mysteries of a new Galactic Legend: the kit, requirements, event, and ideal team setup.

First, we need to consider his kit; normally I would opt to begin with requirements, however after the curveballs we saw from Jedi Master Kenobi, this takes priority.

Lord Vader, as a counterpart to JMK, will be an Empire/Sith character, with more emphasis on Empire than Sith. While they may choose to have his visual appearance be that of Revenge of the Sith, it should be noted that he was a part of the Galactic Empire even before he got turned into a campfire marshmallow by JMK. His kit will focus on stacking damage, in a similar fashion to SLKR, and also as a polar opposite of JMK; as his allies take damage or are defeated, he grows stronger, and he will likely have a unique that marks an ally. This would build towards his Ultimate Ability, or give him a permanent special “cannot-be-copied-or-dispelled” buff relevant for it. There will be trace elements of Emperor Palpatine, Darth Revan, and even his future self Darth Vader embedded throughout his kit, with significant anti-Jedi and anti-Galactic Republic synergy, and likely in the form of irresistible and permanent debuffs. If Capital Games stays true to the buildup of the prequels as well, then he will also have hints of Darth Maul, Count Dooku, and General Grievous’s kits, as each villain foreshadowed a part of his ultimate fall. Darth Maul was consumed by hatred, Dooku was a fallen Jedi, and Grievous was a once-proud warrior that was turned into more machine than man. The most interesting detail to consider, of course, is what his Ultimate will look like. I would like to believe that he will not do a transformation, but rather an upgrade in his power, which can be done so long as he has two or more stacks of the special buff (every time he gains 25% or more charge, instantly defeat the weakest ally and add a stack, can be activated after gaining at least 50%). When he “transforms”, that would instantly defeat any allies he has remaining and should have a subtle change in the way his character looks, especially in the stance. The special buff would give him stacking Mastery, a bonus turn for each stack, instantly reset his cooldowns and more. His ult, however, would be a one-time deal, which means making it ideal for all his former allies to be defeated. And of course, the names and extent of his abilities will be drawn from notable quotes and memes from the film.

Next, let’s delve into the speculation on his unlock requirements and why:

  1. Stormtrooper(R3): Since we’re going off the idea that Lord Vader will be an Empire/Sith character, he will have a heavy emphasis on Empire, in a similar fashion to Kenobi being more geared towards Galactic Republic. While Stormtrooper is a decent tank under the new Imperial Remnant faction, for Vader his usefulness will be almost arena viable (imagine that, Gary!). Players may even consider giving a zeta to him!
  2. Emperor Palp(R8): Similar to how GMY is needed at R8 for JMK, Palpatine was the mastermind behind Vader’s turn to the Dark Side, and would be an easy R8 to make for those who have unlocked any other Dark Side GL.
  3. IPD(R3): Similar to how JML and JMK have a Territory Battle-unlocked character for their requirements, we may also see viability from IPD if the kit described above is even vaguely accurate. Probe Droid self-destructing would add a significant percentage to Lord Vader’s ultimate, making his transformation even quicker.
  4. GAS(R8): This will be a significant issue for some, as unlocking GAS takes a 10 well-geared characters and 5 ships, with Negotiator being the easier of the two Capital Ship to win the ship battles. He also unlocks at only 5*, and requires GET1 currency to bring up to 7*. CG will likely make a pack for him in a similar fashion that they have for more exclusive JMK required characters.
  5. Padme(R7): This is a dead giveaway, in the same manner that Cody and Grand Master Yoda were for JMK. Padme takes five Separatist characters to unlock, adding to the secondary requirements in unlocking Lord Vader.
  6. Mace Windu(R5): Since the unhanding of Mace was the point where Anakin turned to the Dark Side, and to give him more usefulness, he will likely be a character to fight-and lose-in a similar fashion as the game released for RotS. Relic 3 just won’t cut it-but Anakin’s lightsaber will!
  7. R2-D2(R8): In a single sentence-“Stay with the ship, R2.”
  8. Count Dooku(R7): While we will detail the event below, it’s fairly easy to see Dooku’s need, as he pushed Anakin to use the Dark Side during their duel, at the viewing pleasure of the soon-to-be Emperor.
  9. Nute Gunray(R3): Another character that will fight and die to the newly minted Vader. “The war is over! Lord Sidious promised us peace!”
  10. Royal Guard(R5): Another tank to add to Lord Vader’s collection of “cannon fodder to get me to ult”
  11. Emperor’s Shuttle(6*): After losing to the High Ground maneuver (the same maneuver Vader tried, Obi-Wan once did to Darth Maul), I would guess he needs a lift…plus having EP and RG as requirements makes it nice and neat.
  12. Poggle the Lesser(R3): See Nute Gunray, Count Dooku, Mace Windu. Lord Vader is going to be doin a lot o’ murderin!
  13. B1(R5): More murderin, but less murder and more scrapping.
  14. B2(R5): See above. Really, his event is likely going to be him killing EVERYTHING.
  15. New Pay Character: Since Jedi Master Kenobi had only one of these, it’s reasonable to assume Lord Vader will as well. My hope is for them to give a new Separatist, likely in the form of Admiral Trench.

Now, let’s ponder the event itself.

Before you ask-no, will not get to live out the execution of younglings.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s consider the real possibilities. It will likely start aboard the Invisible Hand, using B2, B1 and Count Dooku to survive as long as possible against the onslaught of an Enraged Anakin, facing a countdown until the climax of their duel. It will then move to a battle similar to the Sith Eternal Emperor’s Darth Sidious vs Jedi match, but instead with Mace. In the third tier, you will have to have Poggle, Nute and the B1/B2 again survive until a countdown (similar to the Old Ben sacrifice done for Commander Luke Skywalker’s event), ending in a cinematic of him cutting them down and transforming fully into the Lord Vader character. His final three tiers will be you using your shiny new Lord Vader to “fight” Padme in one phase, and duel Jedi Master Kenobi in the final phase, with the ending cinematic being his fateful attempt to gain the High Ground.

Finally, we need to talk team. Lord Vader will bring Empire once again into the Arena scene, and beating him will be challenging. Characters like Piett, who can inflict Marked on an ally and speed up Vader’s Ultimate charge will be a staple. Stormtrooper may truly become relevant as allies fall and his offense stacks through the roof. Imperial Probe Droid may also become a staple, leaving room for one other character to fill as needed; Characters like Grand Admiral Thrawn, Bastila Shan (Fallen), and of course the OG Darth Vader may become the go-to Lord Vader arena team. Even Royal Guard could be seen in some makeups due to his Unyielding Defender unique. Regardless, I think it’s safe to say that Lord Vader making Empire relevant to Arena again will excite tons of players, especially those who participate in stolen valor…

And there we have it! We may be many months away from the Lord Vader GL announcement, but it’s always fun to be mentally prepared! My usual disclaimer must stand, however: I know nothing, and am not responsible if you opt to spend valuable time/money/gear on preparing for him that I mentioned above. I’ll be linking some of my other social media accounts (for that sweet sweet dopamine)below, for if anyone wishes to further discuss GL speculation. Until next time, Holotable Heroes!

Galactic Kenobi: Requirements, Event Tiers, Kit and More!

DISCLAIMER: I legitimately know nothing, and the following post is entirely speculative in nature.

Hello there! Have you relic’d your Aalya Secura yet? Is your General Kenobi at Relic 8? How does your Bo-Katan Kryze look? If any of these questions made you think of A) your current farms or B) where your wallet is, you are likely far behind on the newest Galactic Legend that will be added to Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. While I may later enjoy a dip in the kiddie pool filled with my guildmate’s tears at having to relic Mace Windu, for now I have the need to speculate as to what the next few weeks will hold for us. Let’s briefly dig into the meat and po-tay-toes of the upcoming trials!

The Requirements

With the first 5 requirements spoiled, everyone is wondering what curveball Capital Games will throw at us. Interesting enough, however, is the language they used in the forum post: “…unlock this newest Galactic Legend as soon as he is released.” Typically it takes a significant amount of time, energy and effort to unlock such powerful characters, but the prospect of having a shiny new GL day 1 must mean that the whales and krakens will certainly obtain him…however the way the post is phrased gives the impression that even our lovely F2P base will have a chance to unlock him.

As for the remaining 10 characters, here are my guesses; this will also factor in relic levels, as each GL prior has needed 62 (Rey), 65 (SLKR), 78 (SEE), and 77 (JML) relic levels for prerequisites to begin the ticket farming.

Jedi Consular-Relic 3
Jedi Guardian-Relic 3
Qui-Gon Jinn-Relic 5
Grand Master Yoda-Relic 7
Cody-Relic 6
Clone Sergeant-Relic 5
Kit Fisto-Relic 3
General Grievous-Relic 7
Count Dooku-Relic 6
Darth Maul-Relic 6

Grand total of relics needed to unlock Galactic Legend General Kenobi-70

Many of the above speculated requirements make sense-the named Jedi all have had a major influence in Kenobi’s story, the clones are a great fit for both boosting your Geo LSTB, the dark side requirements are all characters GK has crossed sabers with, and-being blunt-the two nameless Jedi will both help fill requirements as well as being questionably useful. The only questionable piece is that all GL’s seemed to have two recently released characters that require either crystals or credit cards to unlock in a timely fashion. Once again looking (too deep?) into the wording CG provided, that may not be the case for this new GL, but if not, there’s always a chance to see/need a Padawan version of Obi-Wan, and hopefully not Commander Ahsoka Tano…

The Event

The event itself will take us through the major events that shaped and tested the legendary Jedi General in Revenge of the Sith. Dueling Dooku on the Invisible Hand, General Grievous on Utapau, all culminating in the heartbreaking moments of Order 66-as the order is given, fighting to the remains of the Jedi Temple, and the Battle of the Heroes.

The Character

Our Newest addition to the GL roster will likely be a Light Side/Galactic Republic/Jedi/Tank/Leader, who will have very specific and appealing synergy with Galactic Republic Jedi, and lesser synergy with characters that fit in only one of those two categories. CG will use this character as a means to boost Geo LSTB capacity, especially on phases that require more than one Jedi team or take away from the best Jedi you may have, causing guilds to choose between getting a star or going for the GET2 currency.

The Usual Suspects

Another question on everyone’s mind-who will his counterpart be? No announcement has been made as of yet, but the script we were given leans heavily on this iteration of Kenobi being from RotS. The top three contenders are:

#3-Clone Wars Maul-least likely. Out of the picture in RotS entirely, and only given life again by the animated works (and a very small cameo in Solo).
#2-Count Dooku-more likely. Separatists lack a Galactic Legend, and introducing a new iteration may boost the faction greatly. Also has a chance to add more characters and diversity to the faction.
#1-Fallen Anakin-most likely. What this Empire/Sith character will look like, we can cover in a later post (when it is confirmed, perhaps..?), but this is one that players have been begging for-and it seems like CG is indeed leaning towards this direction.

And there we have it! As the weeks drag on and more information is released, I can only hope we all look back on this post and wonder…why, oh why did I not listen to that nutcase and relic Mace Windu?

Until next time, holotable heroes!

6 Years Later: Dear Capital Games, Fix TW

When Territory Wars debuted 6 years ago today, it was seen as an exciting new game mode, where your guild came together to slug it out against another. It was challenging, it was demanding, and the players overall looked forward to the slugfest.

Now, six years later, this event has become, well, uneventful. Not seeing the signup on the main screen (because too much else is going on), game updates that ruin critical battles, stagnant rewards, and the ever-deepening pile of sandbagging guild accusations has soured the taste of TW. It’s broken-so how does Capital Games fix it? Let’s delve into this matter.

Step 1: Admit there’s a problem

Capital Games has a longstanding history of ignoring problems that don’t affect their pockets-but the moment something has an “unexpected interaction”, they’re right on top of it. Since TW isn’t broken in the way CG seems concerned about, it has allowed to fall to the wayside. So priority alpha would be the player base raising this as some form of formal concern/issue; likely through one of their surveys, though rather than using it for its intended purpose (likely addressing some other specific game mechanic), those actually doing the survey would need to collectively make clear that one of their game modes desperately needs attending to. Hopefully this would at least inspire CG to start talking about solutions if they haven’t already, and perhaps release a specific TW survey on its own-which would formally put this outdated game mode on the table.

Step 2: Make Players Interested Again

Of the three main game modes where players need/can have omicrons (we’re ignoring both Conquest and Raids today), it seems collectively agreed upon that TW omicrons are a waste of extremely valuable resources. Even as someone who held and dropped an omicron on my (now Relic 9) Mace Windu when he was reworked, I still have pangs of regret for that investment.

By and large, players invest their omicrons in Grand Arena more, because the investment value return on that resource is both noticeable and worthwhile. As someone who is focused on Territory Battles myself, I look at applying any new omicrons there first, then GAC-and if there’s nothing I’m working on that could use it, I save it. It’s strictly not worth it, and if CG doesn’t want this game mode to idle and die (such as when the #1 guild in the game took a break on this mode for months), they need to reinvigorate player interest. Make them see that their omicron investments were and will continue to be worth it, change the game mode up to involve special perks for characters (for those that remember, before omicrons existed, characters got unique bonuses, like Mace Windu back in 2018 shown below), and don’t have too much going on in-game that players can actively miss the sign-up announcement. Most notably, there should be a sizeable difference between rewards for winning vs losing.

But most importantly, we need to address the main reason why players have significantly lost interest in this now dated game mode.

Step 3: Update the rewards

As part of a guild who cares significantly more about Territory Battles than TW, I can attest to this. With new TB’s come updated and relevant rewards to upgrade and expand your roster. While TW does have rewards, compared to the other (more) relevant game modes, said rewards have not kept up with the times. Grand Arena has crystals, TB has characters and guild currency, but TW seems to be the unloved child of the game, collecting table scraps from other modes to remain someone relevant. The rewards need to be ramped up to similarly ramp interest, and CG is sitting on their hands with the best rewards of all: omicrons. Farmed from Galactic Challenges and the random oddball cantina energy, omicrons are the most recent advancement for players to upgrade their rosters (datacrons, go back into your corner). If CG wanted players to love TW again, adding omicrons to the rewards (as well as a few other choice bits) would be a significant step forward. Additionally, updating all TW omicrons to only cost half the Omicrons (10 in total) would inspire players to re-engage with this game mode.

And there we have it! I claim no liability for your SWGOH nightmares-that belongs solely in the hands of Capital Games. Until next time, holotable heroes! And don’t forget-relic 9 your Mace!

5 Omicrons We Deserve in 2024

As we close out the 2023 calendar year with a wonderful onslaught of new characters and features…well, we know we want more of course. Eventually every character save for Galactic Legends (don’t you dare do it CG) are likely to get an update-here are five that deserve it in the coming new year:

#5) Darth Sion (Territory War)

One of the Sith Triumvirate, Sion was literally etched into Star Wars mythos as an undying brute bent on destruction. While Traya has an omicron for grand arena, perhaps giving Sion one for territory wars-which is currently one of the most outdated game modes we have-could spice things up a bit. Increasing his taunt and defensive capabilities, even to the point of him gaining marked, and making his unique Pain debuff irresistible would be a tremendous start, as well as sliding some of Traya’s wall of text from her gac omicron.

#4) Darth Nihilus (Territory Battles)

On a similar vein, why not give the Trio capacities in all the relevant game modes? When Darth Nihilus was first introduced to the game, even at 3*, he was tearing up the holotables (and galactic war, for those that remember the dark times). His insta-kill was the first of its kind in GOH, and while his relevancy has fallen slightly to the wayside, let’s not forget the Lord of Hunger was responsible for killing planets solo. Putting an omicron on his lead that grants health and true damage boosts for every defeated enemy would make those late-RotE phase battles a breeze!

#3) Plo Koon (Grand Arena)

Plo Koon (and his forgotten bro Kit) deserve some more value in this game as well. As PLO was one of the few desists who could beat Yoda in canon, and was formidable in almost every field of battle, I think it’s high time that Plo gets his own unique omicron buff for gac. You could even tie it strictly to a full squad non-Galactic Legend/Galactic Republic Jedi allies, with ramping damage, no revives, a double down on his buff dispel and even more perks while facing Sith. Other than fleet and maybe RotE platoons however, there’s no reason to relic this canonically BAMF Jedi up-yet.

#2) Darth Maul (Territory Wars)

Darth Maul was finally given a phenomenal character arc between the Clone Wars series and brief cameos. However in this game, those who dropped a zeta on him rarely get any value. Dropping an omicron on his lead ability that has synergy with Darth Sidious’ omicron to ramp up damage, especially against Jedi would return Maul from “formerly Darth” to a rival to be reckoned with, pulling in some other unloved or underutilized Sith.

#1) Jedi Consular/Guardian (Territory Wars)

These two Jedi are by far the most forgotten characters in the game to date. Deserving of some desperate reworks (and as mentioned before, gaining the Old Republic tag because they’re so wildly generic). However we could easily settle for one getting a TW omicron that activates if both are in the squad, similar to how Fulcrum and Cal get the synergy. Give the players reasons to bring a tank and healer to high relics; change their bonuses if it’s an OR Jedi lead or non-GL GR Jedi lead to make both an incredibly valuable and versatile addition to both offense and defense squads.

And there we have it! I claim no liability for your SWGOH nightmares-that belongs solely in the hands of Capital Games. Until next time, holotable heroes! And don’t forget-relic 9 your Mace!

In Exile, I Must’ve Gone

It’s been a while, folks.

Almost two years, in fact, since my last scribble on this game we all love to hate-and what a journey it’s been. Two new galactic legends, a slew of updates (they FINALLY gave us fleet loadouts!) and at least 3 CW Chewie shards between them and now.

As someone who was deeply passionate about theory crafting, but preferred the medium of script as opposed to forcing videos to be a minimum of 10 minutes, at some point (as many of us do) I got burnt out. I stepped away from this to focus on both real-life commitments as well as the game itself. I watched some of the YouTube videos, but mostly just kept my head down and rode the wave as many of us have.

But, after a recent change up in my guild which somehow landed me in an officer role, I was reminded about what I had once been reputed for-the crazy SWGOH conspiracy theorist (who just so happened to be more accurate on GL requirements than the more renowned content creators).

So here I am, after quite the quiet exile, to share one of the lessons I’ve learned in my peaceful hermitage on Days-Gone-By:

Know how you have fun playing the game.

At one point, I took a break from playing the game entirely. Work was too demanding, and my home life was in shambles as a result; I vividly recall trying to complete fleet missions, do GAC battles, and complete TB missions, all while rushing madly at work and suddenly realizing, “wow, this is making me absolutely miserable.” I left that job soon after that, and started looking at other aspects in my life that were draining-with the game being the main culprit. So I let my guild know, and for about three months I thought I quit the game. I stayed in the discord channel, but after some time I downloaded the game again because I was curious to see how things were going-and got right back into it.

This time however it was different. My mentality of playing the game had to shift; I was fiercely competitive and took losing/missing rewards poorly. I had been hyper fixated on my own roster and advancement, so the change in focus had to be there. As my guild welcomed me back with no hesitation (thank you RRC for that homecoming), I shifted to caring almost solely on Territory Battles. My roster, all the upgrades went to focus there, with only minimal effort being put to GAC-and only so I could advance my TB capacity

That change alone reinvigorated my passion for the game. Even when Rise of the Empire TB came on my guild mates and I took that challenge on eagerly, and as we learned how platoons and ideal squads were needed our rosters developed in kind.

Most recently, my guild started doing Relic 9 platoon requirements-and as someone who had been on the Mace Windu hype train, I was auto-selected to relic him up. Since my guild needed it, even though I’m working on a current/different farm that required R9’s, I had no issue dropping for this. The TB rewards alone will be worth it, as it supports the guild, which is why I play the game. Yes, I love Star Wars. I enjoy the collecting and leveling aspect of the game. My drive, however, is supporting my guild through advancement of my roster.

Which brings me all the way back to this. My name stay of being the village crazy person and reading in between the lines to foresee what Capital Games brings next to the game was always a fun challenge (and inciting the naysayers as well-y’all are my favorite anti-fans!). So, perhaps it is time to dust off the ol digital pen, get back into the groove of things and revel in the thrill of it. So, in the former usual groove of things-

And there we have it! I claim no liability for your SWGOH nightmares-that belongs solely in the hands of Capital Games. Until next time, holotable heroes! And don’t forget-relic 9 your Mace!

5 Places We Don’t Want Omicrons

Omicrons have dramatically changed how we play Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. The few select characters who have been imbued with such tide-altering power are ritualistically checked during each Grand Arena and Territory War-especially considering the most omicron’d character in each aforementioned game mode has more than the entirety of the remaining mode (Territory Battles). Clearly their capability should be respected-but how far will Capital Games go to use this new scarce resource to their advantage? Let’s explore some worst-case scenarios.
(CG, if you’re reading this, please don’t take this as a manifesto but rather a TO-DON’T list)

#5: Raids

With the first two raids now on sim, Heroic Sith and Challenge Rancor remain the only contenders for actual challenge. There is the hope that CG will release more raids in the future, though the power of Galactic Legends must now be weighed hand-in-hand with the game’s power creep. Queue the more veteran players wistfully remembering when Commander Luke Skywalker dominated the Rancor raid.

If they did go through with releasing new raid(s), however, the chances are good that CG would incorporate their new limiter tool-omicrons-in a few select characters. In raids past, certain factions gained bonuses depending on the raid-it would not be surprising if they made this move. It would also be horrible. Base data shows that PVE omicrons are applied least of the three game modes thus far, as the rewards do not balance to the cost of the ability mats. Unless they loosen their grip on omicrons, which wouldn’t be the worst but may still be a not-so-great idea, creating raid-only omicrons would be more punishment than reward.

#4: Fleet Commanders/Fleet Arena

With Executor dominating the skies, no fleet has any realistic breathing room until they introduce new ships to re-balance the meta-unless they started adding omicrons to fleet commanders. It may sound like a tantalizing idea-imagine Holdo, Hux, or heck even Mace Windu getting an omega that suddenly made their fleet/ship meta-relevant; in retrospect, however, this would end up being a nightmare for both sides of the aisle.

Future fleet commanders would almost require an omicron, or be rendered irrelevant even before their release. While CG has done a quiet but decent job on slowly upgrading fleets, omicrons swing the pendulum far too heavily to consider a true “balance”. Sure, the current ship meta can be summed up as “get Executor or go cry about it”-but omicrons would make it infinitely worse. Especially after how CG did Squad Arena dirty, no player in their right mind would want to put such an investment in a place where next week, that investment could be irrelevant.

#3: Conquest

Conquest, as a relatively new game mode, is a marathon. Two whole weeks to unlock the latest in relevant content, it takes a well-balanced roster combined with high levels of strategizing. So, omicrons would be great for this game mode, right? Wrong.

Omicrons taking the place of/adding to the effects of consumables, data disks, and/or being low-key required to accomplish feats, sounds horrid. It already is heavy on the challenge vs. reward factor, considering the level of development most people need to put into their rosters to succeed-one or two omicrons could easily tip the balance to “have these omicrons or you can’t unlock max rewards”. Considering top-tier characters (and now ships) are dependent on players unlocking in a specific time frame, or risk spending tens of thousands of crystals, putting this kind of barrier up would be a grave mistake.

#2: Galactic Legend Requirements

I will be the first to admit it-putting a zeta on Darth Sidious to ease the unlock of my Sith Eternal Emperor was rough. That zeta joins many others in being a one-time-use, a hefty investment considering zetas used to be the ultimate in a character’s abilities. Now, with omicrons present, that brings a new concern to the holotable.

We’ve seen with Jedi Master Kenobi and Lord Vader that relic 8 characters are a requirement just to begin the unlocking process. Many are likely concerned that the next wave of GL’s will have relic 9 characters as requirements-and to be truthful, I think that may be just as bad as requiring omicrons on characters to unlock. How CG would accomplish this monumental mistake, I have no idea-perhaps treating certain phases like certain game modes, though I’m no expert. However, I can’t get over the disgruntlement of needing a zeta for the very first battle to gather GL shards, that was-and is-wholly useless. Needing an omicron-much less multiple omicrons-would be infinitely worse.

#1: Galactic Legends

Presently, Galactic Legends represent the pinnacle of a player’s roster, making a world of difference in every game mode. Raids, Territory Battles, Territory Wars, and Squad Arena (however irrelevant it may now be). New characters with multiple omicron abilities however are being shown taking on and defeating GL’s in their respective game modes. Now, while I have zero problem with that considering the investment involved, CG has shown themselves to be particularly crafty when it comes to how useful GL’s can be/become. The first wave of GL’s (Rey and SLKR) compared to the most recent wave (Kenobi and Vader) come from two vastly different timelines. What’s to say the next wave won’t be the same?

Hopefully, some logic and forethought. Six zetas, on top of all the high relic requirements, time to unlock, gear, and then ultimate, is a steep investment. Guildmates cheer one another when unlocking a GL, as they know all to well the extreme focus and commitment involved in hoarding supplies. Now, imagine your horror at seeing the next GL require six omicrons on top of their zetas and gear and ult, all for varying game modes. While you rapidly descend into madness and your brains turn into bantha poodoo, we need to all take a collective step back and hope CG doesn’t make this error.

And there we have it! I claim no liability for your SWGOH nightmares-that belongs solely in the hands of Capital Games. Until next time, holotable heroes! And don’t forget-relic your Mace!

3 Updates CG Should Consider

While many people are raving about some kind of major sport event, I figured it would be another great day to talk shop! After playing this game for over 5 years, and being an avid fan of all things Star Wars, let’s delve into some quick ideas CG should have on their table.

**WARNING: some articles have been labeled as “clickbait” by various individuals who do not read**

#3: Give more characters the Hero tag in Republic Offensive

Specifically Aayla, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, Luminara, Barriss and Eeth Koth. All five of these named characters are witnessed at the Battle of Geonosis in Attack of the Clones, and it would add such diversity to the game mode. Theory crafters have been trying to make these discarded characters relevant in LSTB, with limited success. Granting them that tag, however, would dramatically increase the team compositions and bring irrelevant characters to the forefront. Aayla, who is a requirement to unlock Jedi master Kenobi, has a stun when she critically hits, and it’s not too hard to load her up with high crit chance as she starts out somewhere around 60%. Kit Fisto could potentially attack four times with his basic, which against droids such as the B1 and B2’s would be a game changer. Plo has a dispel attached to his basic, meaning Droidekas, sniper droids and magnaguard taunts are less of a problem. He also has an aoe and 50% turn meter special, making his kit already useful in some fringe aspects. Luminara and Barriss both have a lot of potential for passive and active heals, and while Eeth Koth is arguably the worst Jedi in the game, his unique gives him a boost in crit chance and damage against droids. Capital Games gave Bad Batch the hero tag to make sure their shiny new team was more relevant, so why not the characters who you could spot at the battle in question?

#2: Ship Squads

Why is this not a thing already? In an update only last year, CG gave us a phenomenal means of organizing character squads-but somehow missed the mark on fleets, a game mode that still has tons of room to grow and should by all means be given the same attention characters do (since its arena is the only one that gives crystal rewards now). Considering that Executor is the meta right now in ships and has limited counters, not to mention the future content of First Order and Resistance tanks, it may be the right time to implement this long-awaited update.

#1: More Omicrons

I love the idea of omicrons. They add such a unique change to the game, and if they take the time and effort to rework irrelevant characters by giving them omicrons-even if for the sole purpose of making them relevant in certain game modes I would be 100% fine with that. The current omicron report shows an incredibly diverse distribution of omicrons, considering how rare they typically are to get. It also makes sense from CG’s point of view; while zetas on characters technically work anywhere, omicrons narrow a character’s viability, meaning they can keep a handle on a single character/squad dominating every other one in every game mode. So, in rare form-CG, GREAT JOB with introducing omicrons to the game. Keep up the good work there, and by all means, drop 2-4 omicrons on outdated characters per quarter. Some ideas for you:

Kit Fisto: Territory Battle. Update his basic to a 100% chance to attack again if it is a droid or separatist enemy, and if it defeats a character, give him 10% protection recovery per Galactic Republic Jedi ally still alive.

Darth Maul: Territory War. Double the bonuses of his Power of Hatred unique if the opposing team has a Jedi.

Mace Windu: Grand Arena. Update his Shatterpoint unique to automatically exposing all dark side enemies at the start of his turn, double the turn meter gain, and if he damages a Sith, they gain irresistible ability block for one turn.

Visas Marr: Grand Arena. Change her Dark Healing special to revive all defeated allies, and increase the health recovery to 65%.

Until next time, holotable heroes! And remember to relic your Mace!

Galactic Legend Daimyo Fett: Requirements, Event, and Kit Speculation!

*WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD*

Ignore all the complaining “fans”-The Book of Boba Fett is amazing.

Boba Fett has long been a character surrounded by intrigue, mystery, and sheer badassery, and the new series slowly peels back layers-even if changed and designed by The Mouse®. Since CG is tied to the content produced, it’s only fair to assume and expect a Galactic Legend before the end of the series. Additionally, it has been now six months since Lord Vader has been released. Since we are still waiting on the third season of The Mandalorian, it seems only fair that Boba will be the next GL. Let’s dive into the details!

Why It Makes Sense

Boba Fett is easily one of the most iconic characters from the films, and the first to make the leap from animation to live-action. He is also one of the character s who remained masked throughout his (original) appearances. The shroud surrounding his entire persona was also the inspiration for the Mandalorian culture, which is now present in comics, books, live-action cinema and even video games. While Boba himself is not considered a Mandalorian, his few spoken lines and amazing costume brought a new aspect of the Star Wars universe to life. The iconic bounty hunter turned crime lord is primed for his own Galactic Legend.

The Requirements

Let’s break down the most likely requirements for GL Boba.

1. Executor 7*-an “easy” shoe-in requirement. Each GL has needed some ship aspect, if only to keep that aspect of the game relevant, and Executor already has several other hefty requirements, further adding to its likelihood.

2. Fennic Shand R8-another shoe-in. Fennic has shown to be completely loyal thanks to saving her life. Played by Ming-Na Wen, professional badass and only actresses to perform the Disney “hat trick” (performed in Star Wars, The MCU and has been a Disney Princess), it’s should come as zero surprise that having her at high relic would be a requirement.

3. Boba Fett R8-do I really need to explain this?

4. Boba Fett, Scion of Jango R8-this will be THE reason everyone protests. Being a Conquest character means limited access to shards and restricted capacity to farm/prepare.

5. Gamorrean Guard R5-considering they saved his life in the first episode of the season, Gam Guard will likely have strong rank synergy with GL Boba in the way Royal Guard does with LV.

6. IG-88 R7-IG and the next few characters will be “fillers”-they all have relevancy to the character’s journey, whether it be from the Original Trilogy (standing in line) or even in The Clone Wars series. They will also likely be great to mix-and-match with a GL Boba squad to some degree that we will discuss later on with the kit speculation.

7. Bossk R7

8. Aurra Sing R5

9. Dengar R7

10. Mob Enforcer R5-another generic character/filler requirement that very few players will have reliced, and will have limited synergy with the GL.

11. Jawa R5-considering Jawas scavenged his armor while fresh out of the Sarlacc, and that most GL’s require an opposing alignment character to unlock, it wouldn’t (and shouldn’t) surprise anyone to find one-if not more-of these Tatooine terrors needed.

12. Tusken Shaman R5-considering every flashback has Boba recounting his time with the Tusken Raiders, it should also be no surprise that the final two Tuskens that LV didn’t require will be necessary. We can only hope Tuskens get some faction love from this new GL, as it’s one of several that have been severely neglected.

13. URoRRuR’R’R R5

14. Tusken Warrior R5-this will be one of two marquee characters that will drop shortly before GL Boba. Badass fact: the actress that plays the raider, Joanna Bennett, also has experience in the Marvel and DC universes, and on-screen trained Boba in the Gaderffii stick, which he uses to deadly efficiency in The Mandalorian as well as briefly in his own series. Hopefully this addition will bring the Tusken faction into some form of relevancy, perhaps even for 3v3 grand arena.

15. Black Krrsantan R5-after a brief appearance in episode 2, and a thrilling battle in episode 3, every SWGOH player should expect this new Wookiee to join your roster as a second marquee requirement. His bounty hunter kit will likely focus on damaging a single target numerous times, with a stacking offense boost for his payout.

The Event

The three generations of Galactic Legends we currently have in-game changed dramatically in their event difficulties with each new phase. The first phase with Rey and Kylo have proven to be extremely challenging; the second and third generation of GL’s somehow to be easier, especially when it came to unlocking the ultimate. Unlocking Boba, however, may be just as if not more challenging than the first generation of GL’s. His first tier will likely cover his appearance in Empire Strikes Back, using characters like Bossk, IG-88, and Dengar fighting rebels. The next tier will mirror his appearance in Jedi Master Luke’s event, as well as his encounter with the Jawas post-Sarlacc, where he will likely have a certain amount of time you need to fight/last in similar fashion to Old Ben’s sacrifice in Commander Luke Skywalker’s event. The third tier will utilize Conquest Boba, Fennec and Gamorrean Guard, mirroring the first episode battle with the assassins with Fett already damaged.

Daimyo Boba’s ult unlocking will be another matter entirely. Sadly, as we are only three episodes into a seven-episode season, we will have to wait another month to really see what his final battle will look like. There is a good chance however he will be battling the Pikes, with the help of Fennec and Black Krrsantan aiding him.

The Kit

Now to The Good Stuff®.

Daimyo Fett will be the Galactic Legend for Scoundrels and Bounty Hunters. It’s heavily debatable if he will be the first character to receive a Neutral tag, since there are both light side and dark side scoundrels/bh; Starkiller’s synergy being dependent on numerous factions being in the squad makeup may have been a test to see how this would function. Regardless, his leadership would give a bonus specifically scoundrel and bh allies, both light and dark, as well as perks dependent on what role (attacker, healer, support, tank) they have. His own tag, however, will be regulated to scoundrel only.

Similar to previous GL’s, each of Daimyo Boba’s abilities will have a zeta; unfortunately, several of his abilities will also have multiple omicrons, giving bonuses in multiple/different game modes, such as territory wars, grand arena, and even another for territory battles. If GL Boba does turn out to be a neutral-aligned character, this would likely show Capital Games’ hand at a future new TB, where you have access to both sides of your roster.

The greatest concern for his kit is being able to activate the payouts for his bounty hunter allies. This may be tied into Boba’s ultimate, where scoundrels get a one-time massive stat boost while bounty hunters have their payouts activated, and charging the ultimate focuses primarily on Boba taking damage, as he may be Marked at the start of battle, and getting twice as much charge if he’s critically hit. The downside is that he has to survive a brutal barrage, however, in addition to only using his ult at 100% charge. On the flip side though, he would likely remove all debuffs, go back to full health/protection, get a bonus turn and a new variation of his Bounty Hunter’s Resolve.

The rest of his kit will be just as exciting; his unique may somehow link the target as well as the strongest enemy in a way Sith Eternal Emperor does. His basic would deal damage to the target and again to the linked enemies, a special that will stun and cause protection disruption to them all, and his wrist rocket that dispels all buffs/debuffs and deals true damage to just the target, with part of a unique granting a fresh coat of BHR after defeating an enemy.

And there you have it! The chances are good that Boba finally gets the recognition he deserves, even if that means his requirements will be insanely high. In the words of the notorious bounty hunter himself:

“Power up those shields princess. I’ll put on a good show”

Who Will the Next Galactic Legends Be?

Lord Vader is old news. Onto the next!

*WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD*

With The Book of Boba Fett blowing away fans, every Galaxy of Heroes player is hoping to get some new characters added to the mix. From the appearances of all the trailers thus far, it will be heavily based around Boba rebuilding Jabba’s old enterprise, meaning scoundrels will be at the forefront of this series.

On the flip side, season 3 of The Mandalorian is supposed to drop sometime early in 2022. The last season left off with Din Djarin being put at odds with Bo-Katan Kryze over possession of the Darksaber. Considering that Capital Games often relies on new content from Disney, the logical conclusion is that a version of Boba Fett and Mandalore will become our next two Galactic Legends, supported by the lack of GL’s for the two respective (and expected) factions: Scoundrels and Mandalorians. Let’s delve into the possible requirements, as well as what they would be capable of.

Daimyo Boba Fett

Boba Fett will definitely be a challenging GL to unlock. His requirements will likely have both previous iterations of his character as well as Fennic Shand at Relic 8, if not Relic 9. Other highly likely requirements (that are in-game) could inclue Gammorean Guard, IG-88, Bossk, Mob Enforcer, Aurra Sing, Embo, Dengar, Tusken Shaman, and URoRRuR’R’R. The final 3-4 slots for requirements would likely be filled with new marquee characters that are dropped in the new series. Let’s hope we get Black Krrsantan!

Scoundrels hold a strange placing in terms of power level-all bounty hunters are scoundrels, but not all scoundrels are bounty hunters. The few actual scoundrel leaders prior to Dash Rendar were almost not worth noticing-including Beskar Mando. In a world where Galactic Legends are the utmost power level, you can only start measuring at the second-best.

Under Daimyo Boba, however, scoundrels will surge in their usefulness. Considering that the Gamorrean Guard is playing an actual role in the new series, the chances are good this character will get a rework similar to how Royal Guard did for Lord Vader. The kit for Daimyo Boba, however, will need to be divided between BH and scoundrels. Activating payouts will be essential, and considering how the show is going, he may be marked when the battle begins, taking damage with random allies having a chance to counter for him. He may also have a unique similar to General Anakin Skywalker, where when he loses all protection he goes into a bacta tank and regenerates.

The chances are also extremely good that Daimyo Boba will be the first Neutral character, and gives perks to scoundrels and BH regardless of their alignment. Considering Starkiller gains perks based on his squad’s alignment, this may be leaning towards the next Territory Battle released, where you can use both sides of your roster…

Mandalore

Most Star Wars fans will be eagerly watching as the third season of The Mandalorian releases. With the Darksaber in his rightful possession, Mando may end up playing the most important role of his creed-uniting all the clans.

There are presently only ten Mandalorians in game, and as a faction…they suck. Chances are, the final requirements to unlock him will likely be finished off by a Mando capital ship, and fleet to clean up that we encounter during the upcoming season. It was Bo-Karan’s mission and she clearly was amassing enough supplies to retake the planet, and this falls in line with unlocking requirements for previous GL’s.

Similarly to Daimyo Boba, Mandalore would also be a Neutral GL, to work well in the future neutral TB and pull from both the light and dark side of his faction. Thematically it shows him uniting a scattered and broken people, with a Beskar-inspired kit pumping and protecting his Mandalorian allies. Characters like The Armorer, Bo-Katan and other versions of Mando would be amazing for TB, while his kit would make LS Mandalorians better for defense and DS Mandalorians better for offense. His ultimate could be a Booming Voice effect for all Mandalorians, which would be devastating to say the least.

And there we have it! Since we don’t expect any movies to come out soon, and Disney is making a killing with their shows, these two titular characters will become the next additions to our galactic journey. Prepare yourself-if you thought Republic Offensive was a challenge, just wait until this neutral tb makes R7 the minimum requirement…

I said what I said.

5 (More) Omicrons to Expect in 2022

There is little doubt in my mind that Omicrons will be the standard going into next year. Zetas in themselves are overly powerful, if only because it doesn’t matter which game mode you are in to utilize their bonuses. I’m sure several of the higher-ups at Capital Games would have loved to come up with Omicrons first and zetas second, but here we are. The most we can do is make the best of it-and prepare. Here are five more likely candidates for Omicron upgrades.

#5: Ahsoka Tano (Fulcrum)-Territory War

Fulcrum has to be one of the most disappointing releases in this game to date. While originally hyped up as a viable addition to HAAT teams, her viability fell far to the wayside, far too quickly. Even being in one of the most versatile factions hasn’t helped her situation out, and an upgrade is long overdue. Considering she deserves both a Rebel Fighter and a Phoenix tag, her Omicron could start by giving her those tags if the majority of allies also have them. Her main attraction, the Whirlwind, is the key to her kit, and finding a way to include/steal more buffs would dramatically boost her viability.

#4: Grand Moff Tarkin-Grand Arena

Considering Tarkin is both a requirement for Sith Eternal Emperor, and has a decent capital ship, it’s a surprise he isn’t stronger, nor more used. His leader ability, Tighten the Grip, has definitely fallen behind on the times, and considering all the leftover Empire characters we posess, it would be great to see him return as a viable threat. Adding an Omicron that boosts stats based on their potency and tags (Attacker, Support, Tank), as well as some level of stat recovery, would make for a more durable team. Characters like Shoretrooper, Stormtrooper, Imperial Probe Droid, Magmatrooper, and Snowtrooper would become part of the viable options for a GMT lead.

#3: Hoth Rebel Soldier-Grand Arena

Putting it plainly-Hoth Rebel Soldier sucks. The only place where they have purpose is in Light Side Hoth Territory Battles, and they act like a younger sibling brought along on a trip out. Even with the Rebel Fighter tag, their versatility hasn’t moved forward one bit. Their kit is equally outdated, and needs a significant amount of attention. An Omicron for HRS would likely have stacking offense and crit chance, similar to Finn’s, with additional bonuses for attacking and defeated Empire enemies, making him desirable, if not essential for a GMT Omicron counter.

#2: Gammorean Guard-Grand Arena

Gam Guard has been on many lists of characters I’ve written about; as one of the weirdly more challenging characters to 7*, his viability has been nonexistent from the beginning. His kit reads beautifully though, even after all these years-Damage Over Time on his basic, as well as a taunt with retribution special (we won’t talk about his Punch Through special). That’s it though-no unique whatsoever. With the Book of Boba Fett coming out tomorrow, I suspect that Gam Guard will be getting a rework that includes an Omicron, that works in a similar fashion to how Royal Guard works for Empire characters.

#1: Savage Opress-Grand Arena

Savage was at one point a must-have for HAAT. But that was when gear 11 was the cap on levels. Hopefully, CG sees that he was useful and had a decent (albeit short) character arc tied to Maul, and adjusts this once-powerful toon. Though the newest iteration of Maul may be geared specifically towards Mandalorians, however giving Savage an Omicron would mean sharing stats like Bastila Shan (Fallen) does with Darth Revan that offsets and makes taking the stat loss from removing a Mandalaorian worthwhile. Alternatively, he could have general synergy with a Maul character, especially if they are in the leader slot.

And there we have it! There are loads of characters that have fallen to the wayside and are great options for an Omicron upgrade. It’s going to be the way characters are updated, so the best we can do is prepare for it. Until next time, holotabel heroes!

5 Omicrons to Expect in 2022

While Capital Games could not have timed the dropping of omicrons any better (current events come to mind…), overall it appears like they are the next logical evolution for the game. Zetas are phenomenal and powerful, however the omicrons are restrictive and mode-specific. Older/agony characters like Qui-Gon Jinn have been given new life and purpose-so who else is next? Let’s take a look at 5 characters that could use a fresh coat of paint.

#5: Cody

Ever since Shaak Ti and GAS came out, Cody has definitely taken to warming the bench. While he is required for a phase in Republic Offensive and Jedi Master Kenobi, his usefulness is limited even there. With an omission however, Cody could easily become the star of the show, making that special mission a breeze, as well as being a strong addition to any clone/Galactic Republic squad. Additional attacks, assists, cooldown reductions all are easily on the table when it comes to upgrading this character.

#4: Qi’ra

Qi’ra and the smuggler squad from Solo were questionable at best-and that’s when they were released. The all-Star that is Enfys Nest has been well worth the investment, but all others have been only to meet basic requirements. The Prepared mechanic returned recently with Boba, Scion of Jango, however he lacked the smuggler tag, which is purely made of Solo characters. A boost to Qi’ra’s leadership bonuses in grand arena may herald a rush of investment into her ideal squad, especially if there are stat/damage bonuses for each time a character became or lost Prepared.

T3-M4

Ah, T3. His zetas are amazing-in theory. In practice, I can’t recall the last time I saw T3 and thought, “oh, no!”, except maybe in an old General Grievous unalive squad. He fit in far better with droids than he ever did with an Old Republic squad, and even then there are no light side Druid squads that don’t pull from other, far more valuable factions. Perhaps if his omicron gave him an additional ability, and automatically stealthed him as to avoid being singled out, his value would break through.

#2: Jyn Erso

Jyn and her Rogue One buddies were a great addition to the game for all of one day. Baze and Chirrut once belonged to the terrifying CLS doom squad (back when gear 12 was new and terrifying), but overall the faction can’t stand on its own. Few if any have invested in these characters, as the gains for the faction is severely limited. Giving her R1 squad mates additional stat boosts, as well as more passive buff gains, could yet breathe life into this misfit faction.

#1: R2-D2

This may be the most surprising addition to this list, which is why I saved it for very last. R2 was THE staple for Rebel squads prior to the addition of Chewbacca/Threepio. Now, he often finds a place within varying squads, especially Jedi Training Rey, however with almost every other squad released since her debut, it still feels lackluster. A boost to his kit in either Territory Battles and/or Grand Arena would be welcome, even if it was as simple as him giving all his stats at the start of battle to a non-Galactic Legend leader.

And there we have it! There are tons of characters who have collected dust and need a helping hand to become viable in some game mode. The future is rife with possibility!

Until next time, holotable heroes. Don’t forget to relic your Mace!
